Job description

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, power and liquefied natural gas (LNG), both physical and financial. Our investments in low‑carbon technologies such as the Project Greensand carbon storage initiative and HydrogenOne Capital Growth plc support our business through the energy transition.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Energy Trading business in reviewing the entirety of its compliance and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Enhance policies and procedures where necessary to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Handle the business’ current compliance programme.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for all Compliance & Regulatory issues and support the Head of Legal & Compliance on regulator communications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including MiFID II, EMIR, REMIT, Dodd‑Frank, CFTC, exchange rules, licences and permitting, and ESG matters such as methane emissions regulations.
  • Lead projects to implement a market surveillance tool, improve monitoring of communications media, and handle market and communications surveillance for the business.
  • Provide a comprehensive assessment of Compliance & Regulatory risks and mitigants.
  • Ensure the business has a suite of appropriate Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Deliver Compliance & Regulatory training to all staff, covering market abuse and competition law.
  • Maintain high ethical standards throughout the business.
  • Conduct initial investigations of compliance and ethical issues, including market abuse, and support detailed investigations as required.
Candidate Profile

Experienced compliance and regulatory expert with hands‑on experience in the commodity sector.

Skills & Knowledge
  • In‑depth knowledge of the laws and regulations affecting trading, including REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulations, Dodd‑Frank, CFTC, competition law and sanctions issues.
  • Ability to make complex concepts clear and understandable.
Preferred Software Experience
  • Standard office systems (Word, SharePoint).

  • High ethical standards.
  • Hands‑on, practical approach to Compliance & Regulatory issues.
  • Positive, "can‑do" solution‑based attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deal with complex issues in a straightforward way.
