Role Description: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Sale, Manchester

Salary: GBP108 - GBP135 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with complex needs? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Sale (M33) that caters to students aged 11-19 with severe learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex needs
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies
• Support students with personal care and sensory regulation
• Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored interventions
• Build trusting relationships with students and promote emotional well‑being
• Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

What Were Looking For

• Experience working with children or young people with severe SEN/SEMH
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
• Team Teach training (desirable but not essential)
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
