Complex Needs Teacher – Primary Special School – Coventry

A warm and welcoming primary special school in Coventry is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teacher to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach primary aged pupils with a range of complex learning needs in a setting that prioritises care, consistency, and meaningful progress.

The school supports pupils with complex needs including Autism, severe and moderate learning difficulties, communication needs, and additional sensory or physical needs. Classes are small, allowing you to focus on individual learning, with the support of experienced Teaching Assistants who work closely alongside you every day.

As a Complex Needs Teacher, you will create engaging, personalised learning experiences that support both academic development and wider life skills. The leadership team is supportive and visible, and staff work collaboratively to ensure every pupil feels safe, understood, and able to succeed.

Job Role
  • Teaching a small primary class of pupils with complex learning needs
  • Planning and delivering creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to provide consistent, high-quality support
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social development, and emotional regulation
  • Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to reviews and planning meetings
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with complex needs, SEND, or in a special school setting (desirable)
  • A patient, flexible, and child-centred approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs
