Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a Complex Needs Support Worker in Harrogate to assist learners aged 4 to post-16 with educational, pastoral and personal care needs. Hours are 8:30 to 4pm, Monday to Friday, with flexible start dates.

Experience with children or vulnerable adults is preferred, and a valid Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service is required. Salary is daily, with potential for either temporary or permanent placements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children, young people or adults as above.
• We must be able to obtain valid references from these roles.
• Hold, or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS, registered to the Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Support educational, pastoral and personal care needs for learners.
• Provide support in a school or care setting during daytime hours (8:30–16:00, Mon–Fri).
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare of learners is maintained in line with policies.

Vision for Education work with special educational needs schools and care provisions in the Harrogate area to provide skilled and dedicated staff members for their learners. Learners are aged from 4 through to post 16 and young adults. This role is lively and rewarding! It involves supporting individuals educational, pastoral and personal care needs as required. Hours are between 8.30 and 4pm, Monday to Friday. (No evening or weekends required).

Individual needs may be learning and educational, medical, social and emotional, physical, sensory or mental health related.

We are seeking committed, positive and kind staff members with the highest standards of professionalism along with experience of working with child or vulnerable adult service users, ideally encompassing some of the following areas:

Autism, Down Syndrome, SLD, PMLD, personal care, moving & handling support, peg/tube feeding, mental health.

Relevant previous experience can include education or care based roles, early years assistant roles, medical experience, child or adult support work, nursing roles.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience of working with children, young people or adults as above
• We must be able to obtain valid references from these roles.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualificationsrequired for this position are: recent experience obtained working with children or young people or adults, ideally within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, play, medical or care setting. We must be able to obtain references from these roles.

The Provision

This SEND provision is based in the Harrogate area and is easily accessible via public transport. There is also ample car parking. We are continually looking to strengthen our staff team. We can provide full time, part time, temporary or temporary to permanent work as required.
