Job summary

Technical Partners are seeking an experienced Compex Electrician to join a nationwide engineering team. The role involves inspection, installation, maintenance and commissioning in hazardous area and industrial environments across LNG and oil & gas plants.

The position requires Compex 01-04, 18th edition and 2391/4/5 qualifications, with travel across the UK and 3 nights away minimum. A competitive package with overtime is offered.

Salary: £52,000 basic | OTE £70,000-£80,000

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Compex Electricians with compex 01-04, 18th edition and 2391/4/5 to join a nationwide engineering team delivering inspection, installation, maintenance and commissioning services across hazardous area and industrial process environments typically LNG and oil & gas plants.

This position offers a varied mix of hazardous area electrical work, fault finding, instrumentation, control systems and project installations across multiple operational sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring electrical assets remain safe, compliant and operational within highly regulated environments.

All applicants must be comfortable staying away from home for a minimum of 3 nights per week - generally the teams work up to 12 hours Monday-Thursday then have an early lunch time finish on a Friday with weekends off to allow sufficient rest and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspection, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment within hazardous areas.
  • Install, terminate and commission hazardous area electrical systems.
  • Undertake electrical fault finding on LV power, control and instrumentation circuits.
  • Conduct CompEx inspections and ensure compliance with ATEX, DSEAR and relevant industry standards.
  • Support project activities including site upgrades, equipment replacements and facility improvements.
  • Assist with commissioning activities for electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Calibrate, inspect and maintain field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow and level devices.
  • Complete technical reports, inspection records and compliance documentation.
  • Travel to operational and customer sites across the UK as required.
Essential Requirements
  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Current CompEx EX01-EX04 certification.
  • 2391/4/ 5 testing qualification
  • Experience working within hazardous area environments.
  • Electrical inspection, testing and fault-finding experience.
  • Strong understanding of BS7671 and hazardous area regulations (18th edition)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Ideal Candidate

This role would suit a CompEx-qualified electrician who enjoys technically challenging hazardous area work, extensive fault finding, industrial installations and commissioning activities. Candidates with backgrounds in petrochemical, process manufacturing, fuel storage, energy, pharmaceutical or COMAH-regulated environments will be particularly well suited.

Pay

The client have a fixed rate structure with candidates holding compex 01-04, 2391/4/5 and 18th edition earning:

  • £25.09ph upto 40 hours
  • £37.64 over 40 hours
  • £30 per night payment for overnight work plus an additional £30 meal allowance
  • 6am-6pm Mon-Thurs and 8 hours on Friday - 53.5 working hours per week.
  • Company vehicle, fuel card and tools provided
  • £30 per night for overnight stay
  • An additional £30 per night meal allowance
  • Can expect £80k OTE
  • If you are missing compex, 2391/4/5 or 18th edition, you would be on a reduced rate until you have completed training. Rate could fluctuate between £21.45ph-£24ph dependant on experience and qualification needs. Can expect up to £70k OTE
