Job summary

Westgate Healthcare in the United Kingdom is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support mealtimes for residents. You'll help prepare meals, serve them and maintain kitchen hygiene, working closely with the Head Chef and care team.

No extensive kitchen experience required; reliability, teamwork, and a can-do attitude are valued. The role offers 30 hours weekly, three 8:00am-6:30pm shifts, and a competitive hourly rate with weekend enhancements.

Qualifications

• No prior kitchen experience required; reliable, hands-on and with a can-do attitude are valued.
• Cares about cleanliness and hygiene, and works well in a team.
• Comfortable following health and safety and COSHH guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Helping with the preparation of meals and supporting the kitchen team.
• Serving meals to residents, ensuring food is presented well and served at the correct temperature.
• Working with care staff to understand and accommodate residents’ meal preferences.
• Washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean, tidy and hygienic.
• Following COSHH, health and safety and food hygiene requirements.
• Receiving and checking kitchen deliveries and ensuring stock is stored correctly and rotated.
• Help keep the kitchen organised and running efficiently.
• Carrying out reasonable requests from the Home Manager or Head Chef.
