Job summary

Home Instead is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for 6‑8 hour shifts, 5 days a week (incl. one weekend day) in Wembley. The role covers companionship, home help, and personal care, with DBS enhanced disclosure as part of the requirements.

Applicants must be resident in the UK and willing to complete our award‑winning training. Sponsorship is not available. Typical duties include assisting clients with daily activities, providing companionship, and ensuring safety and wellbeing during visits of

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and social engagement to clients.
• Assist with light housework, meal planning and meal prep, shopping support.
• Assist with personal care tasks and mobility as needed.
• Maintain dignity, respect, and privacy of clients; comply with DBS disclosure requirements.

Companionship Services :

• Offer companionship and conversation.
• Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities (for example clothing selection, hobbies, and crafts)
• Accompany to appointments and social events (for example visiting friends or family, lunch, club meetings)

Home Help Services :

• Performing light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, washing and ironing, taking out rubbish, caring for houseplants etc.)
• Organise and tidy cupboards , check food expiry dates and shopping .
• Knowledge about good food safety and ability to cook variety of meals from raw ingredients.
• Assist with pet care.

Personal Care :

• Help with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Help with continence care.
• Consider and understand the point of view of the person with Dementia/Alzheimer
• Assist with Morning and Evening routine.
• Ability to listen, communicate clearly and build relationships with clients and their families in a friendly and pleasant manner.
• Respect for people with different backgrounds and beliefs to your own and who may have a range of medical conditions. Commitment to non-discriminatory care practice
• Excellent timekeeper who is organised and reliable.
• Good hygiene practice, including personal hygiene and a smart appearance.
• This role will require you to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the relevant body.
• Class 1 business insurance (if using own car for business purposes) or reliable transport.
