Job summary

Dogs Trust in Glasgow is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to help run our veterinary suite at the rehoming centre, working 33.75 hours per week with care and compassion for dogs. You will support the Veterinary Nurse by maintaining a clean clinical environment, scheduling appointments, and assisting with consultations and meetings with adopters, as well as feeding and monitoring recovery kennels.

You may transfer dogs to local practices for surgery and occasionally assist across kennels.

Qualifications

• Reliable and flexible, able to work on own initiative or in a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience in animal care desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent care to dogs in the veterinary suite, including cleaning, food preparation and monitoring recovery kennels.
• Support the Veterinary Nurse with scheduling appointments, maintaining a clean clinical environment, and assisting with consultations and adopter meetings.
• Transfer dogs to and from local veterinary practices for surgery.
• Assist with kennel duties as needed.
