Job summary

Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a part-time support worker in Merthyr Tydfil to assist a client with accessing community activities, prompting memory, and providing reassurance. The role requires a car owner willing to use their vehicle for work and to cover additional hours as needed.

You will drive to activities, accompany the client to existing interests, and help them explore new opportunities while upholding confidentiality and the client's preferences.

Qualifications

• You must be a car owner willing to use it for work.
• Reliable, flexible, and able to cover additional hours if needed.
• Positive approach to disabled people.
• Motivated to do a wider variety of activities with the client.
• Take initiative to find new activities for the client.
• Chatty and able to get on well with people.
• Respect confidentiality and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Encourage participation in new activities.
• Accompany to activities the client already enjoys.
• Participate in activities with the client.
• Drive the client to places they want to go.
• Drop the client off at work placements or courses as required.
• Ensure the client's safety at all times.
• Support the client to express needs and wants clearly.
• Encourage the client to speak for themselves.
• Prompt the client to remember important things.
