A healthcare provider based in Gateshead seeks a Community Tobacco Dependency Nurse to lead the development of tobacco dependency treatment within the Targeted Lung Health Check Programme. Responsibilities include service development, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and management of a small team. An opportunity has arisen toembed treatment of tobacco dependency into the Targeted Lung Health Check(TLHC) Programme across Newcastle Gateshead.The TLHC programme targets those people most at risk of lung cancer,inviting them to a unique screening opportunity if they have ever, or currentlysmoke, and are between 55-75 years old.Emerging evidence suggests that this is an ideal opportunity tosystematically identity and treat tobacco dependency for those still usingtobacco at the time of screening. This role will lead the development and embeddingof an enhanced treatment offer across Newcastle-Gateshead, with the aim ofsharing learning across the whole North East and North Cumbria footprint.
The Community Tobacco Dependency Nurse role will include service development, collaboration with partners across the NENC Integrated Care System, NHS and the Local Authority, and embedding of a treatment pathway into the existing TLHC approach.This will involve the delivery of training, behaviour change interventions and regular progress updates, as well as line management of a small team of specialist community tobacco dependency treatment advisors.

Developclinical pathways to treat tobacco dependency across initially Newcastle &Gateshead authority areas, understanding the nuances of differing servicedelivery, whilst identifying gaps and initiatives designed to reach those leastlikely to accept treatment for tobacco dependency in the first instance
Establishgood relationships and leadership with staff at all levels to motivate andadvise on achieving high standards of care in helping patients in treatingtobacco dependency
Providesexpert advice and training to the medical and nursing teams, as well as the CommunityTobacco Dependency Treatment Advisors on tobacco dependency treatments, workingas the representative for the service
Ensuresrobust and complete data collection to map progress, monitor reach and shareoutcomes
Compileand share reach and outcomes in multiple formats including summary reports andpresentations in multiple forums
Linemanagement of Community Tobacco Dependency Treatment Advisors working directlyon the TLHC tobacco dependency programme
Maintainup to date and relevant knowledge of the evidence base surrounding treatmentfor tobacco dependency to continually act upon the changing evidence base andembed most effective treatment options as relevant
