Core Teaching Qualifications
  • Hold a teaching qualification (QTS / QTLS) or be willing to work towards it
Academic Background
  • Degree or equivalent with Maths and English at least to Level 2
  • Specialist teaching qualification in chosen subject desirable
Experience and Skills
  • Teaching across the secondary age range
  • Creative and adaptable teacher who inspires and motivates students
  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments desirable
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities
  • Capable of managing student behaviour effectively and committed to high levels of pastoral care in an alternative education setting

  • Proven experience collaborating with parents, community organisations and stakeholders to support students with diverse and challenging needs
Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection and inclusion – particularly within alternative education environments that serve vulnerable young people
Problem‑Solving
  • Quick to identify and resolve student challenges, with effective follow‑up and individualised support strategies
Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to build meaningful engagement with students, parents/carers, colleagues and external partners
