Core Teaching Qualifications
- Hold a teaching qualification (QTS / QTLS) or be willing to work towards it
Academic Background
- Degree or equivalent with Maths and English at least to Level 2
- Specialist teaching qualification in chosen subject desirable
Experience and Skills
- Teaching across the secondary age range
- Creative and adaptable teacher who inspires and motivates students
- Familiarity with virtual learning environments desirable
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities
- Capable of managing student behaviour effectively and committed to high levels of pastoral care in an alternative education setting
Partnership & Community Engagement
- Proven experience collaborating with parents, community organisations and stakeholders to support students with diverse and challenging needs
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection and inclusion – particularly within alternative education environments that serve vulnerable young people
Problem‑Solving
- Quick to identify and resolve student challenges, with effective follow‑up and individualised support strategies
Communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to build meaningful engagement with students, parents/carers, colleagues and external partners
