A community health organization in Norwich is seeking a Band 7 nurse for a 12-month secondment in the Tuberculosis (TB) team. The role involves independent clinical work with a caseload of TB patients, providing holistic support to assist in their treatment. Training will be provided, making it suitable for candidates without TB experience. The position requires excellent communication and collaborative skills, with work primarily based in Norwich and surrounding areas. Apply by December 28, 2025.
This is a new role, and a rare and exciting opportunity to join our small, friendly community Tuberculosis (TB) team. We are looking for a Band 7 nurse to join our dedicated team in a secondment role for 12 months. We are based at Norwich Community Hospital. We work mainly in Norwich, but also cover South Norfolk and North Norfolk areas and occasional visits are required in these areas.
You will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills and gain knowledge of TB, including supporting the team to review patients who have a diagnosis of Tuberculosis (TB) or are undergoing investigations for TB in their own residence and in clinics. Once trained and with support, you will be responsible for a caseload of patients, providing essential holistic support to assist patients to complete their course of treatment.
The role will include independent working but, due to the unique nature of the speciality, we do not expect applicants to have any prior knowledge or experience of working with TB, as all necessary support and training will be provided once the successful applicant is in post. With this in mind we very strongly encourage informal visits to meet the team before the interview and learn more about the role.
The role offers the opportunity to work in clinics, in the community, visiting people at home, office/home telephone reviews, and working closely with our colleagues at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital by attending clinics and visiting wards to review patients.
We work with a variety of outside agencies including the UK Health Security Agency, Public Health, Infection Control Team, People from Abroad team, Looked after children team, Intran (translation service), safeguarding and charities.
You will need excellent communication skills and must be prepared to work flexibly and collaboratively to meet the needs of the service. It is essential to have evidence of professional competencies and be able to apply your knowledge and skills to clinical practice.
