Job summary

A healthcare provider in Normanton and Altofts is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the school aged immunisation programme. You will administer vaccines, promote uptake, and work in various school settings. The role requires strong communication skills and flexibility in working hours. This temporary position is for 11 months covering maternity leave, with core hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Job description

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the school aged immunisation programme and respond to disease outbreaks. The service delivers vaccines across the district in mainstream schools, SEN schools, pupil referral units and community clinics. You will be responsible for maintaining the safe storage, transportation, and administration of vaccines in accordance with the cold chain and Trust guidance. Promoting vaccine uptake by providing information to parents and children and gaining consents is a key responsibility of this role. This position is mainly school and office based but in school holidays you will be involved in clinics around the area in local family hubs.

Responsibilities
  • Administer vaccines and maintain cold chain compliance.
  • Promote vaccine uptake and gain parental consent.
  • Work in school settings and community clinics across the district.
  • Transport vaccines to schools when required.
  • Collaborate with nurses, immunisation support workers and administrators to improve immunisation rates.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualified with current NMC registration.
  • Previous experience in immunising is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to have positive conversations with young people, parents and staff.
  • Flexible to change and able to work across the district at immunisation sessions in school settings and designated community clinics.
  • Strong communication skills in a diverse community.
Hours and Notice

The role is up to 37.5 hours a week and is a temporary post for 11 months to cover maternity leave. Core working hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday, with some flexibility outside of these hours required to transport vaccines to schools where necessary.

To work in the UK you must meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa. The Trust provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles only.
