Working autonomously, you will have responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of highly specialised evidence-based palliative care. Integral to the post is the ability to demonstrate leadership skills, advanced interpersonal and communication skills alongside highly specialised clinical skills. To plan and deliver education across a varied range of settings and to a wide range of health and social care professionals. To support the development of the specialist palliative care team with service improvement, audit and research. The teams are supported by medical staff and work closely with a comprehensive and well established Hospice at Home service and specialist hospice inpatient unit.
This is a part time, fixed term post working initially with the Community team, based at Westmorland General Hospital, however will be flexible across UHMB. This is a part time, fixed term contract within the CDDE Division. The post will finish on 31st October 2026.
We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
