Position

This post creates an opportunity for a highly motivated Mental Health Nurse to work within the Community Mental Health Teams for Elderly (CMHTE) based in East Ayrshire.

What you will do

You will work with older adults who have a range of mental health issues. You will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team in close partnership with colleagues in primary care, community, social work and third sector. The post holders will also assist in the delivery of post‑diagnostic support to patients newly diagnosed with dementia. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively in a safe caring and respectful way. You will work as part of an integrated and multi‑disciplinary environment placing the older person and their carers to the fore.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a well‑developed knowledge of care of older people with mental health problems and appropriate interventions coupled with organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team are essential for this post. You will be educated to degree level or have a relevant postgraduate qualification and experience relevant to the job purpose.

The CMHTE is part of the East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (EAHSCP). The post holder will be based within Rothesay House, Cumnock. As a registered Mental Health Nurse, on Part 3 of the NMC Register, you will be an integral member of the team working within a distinct locality within East Ayrshire providing assessment, care, support and interventions to patients and carers living in East Ayrshire.

Hours

37 per week.
