Overview
This Community Payback Supervisor role is based in West Sussex covering Worthing and Littlehampton offices. The successful candidate will work a full‑time 37‑hour week, with flexible start times from 7:00 AM and finish at 16:45 PM, and will include a weekend day and other working days as required by operational delivery.
Work Pattern
Weekend work is part of the normal pattern; weekend days will be compensated at a higher rate. The role may also require evening coverage and a hybrid working arrangement may be discussed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Pre‑Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions.
- Lead a daily 'toolbox' talk to ensure service users understand the task, safe working practice and are motivated to complete their work.
- Follow work directions within the project placement file.
- Apply Health & Safety procedures, alert staff to risk and complete risk assessments.
- Ensure that appropriate tools, equipment and supplies are available and used safely by service users.
- Conduct a dynamic risk assessment to identify and manage hazards.
- Use pro‑social and motivational techniques to ensure disciplined and well‑behaved completion of work.
- Monitor attendance of service users and promote successful completions.
- Maintain accurate records in the case management system.
- Deliver training assessments for selected service users within the supervised work group.
- Promote Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public.
Qualifications
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence (Category D1 Minibus) – automatic licences are not accepted.
- Evidence of practical skills and teamwork.
- Effective inter‑personal skills with the ability to supervise constructively while maintaining authority.
- Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work.
- First Aid knowledge and willingness to undertake further training.
- IOSH L3 or equivalent – willingness to attend further training and to achieve L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent.
- Ability to model pro‑social attitudes and behaviour to service users.
- Good written communication skills.
