Join our Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Trials Team as Community Outreach and Engagement Manager (all genders) and you will advance health equity, support diverse and socially underserved populations with internal and external partners. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining reliable local community relationships across designated therapeutic areas, implementing on‑site, community‑oriented projects, engaging in patient education activities, reducing patient access barriers, and identifying best practices that can be leveraged across the industry to help achieve health equity. They will collect and report data and successfully engage in recruitment and retention activities in partnership with Sanofi‑sponsored clinical trial sites.

Region‑specific community awareness, outreach, and engagement strategy

Responsible for designing the country‑level engagement strategy, i.e. "what is effective community engagement" in local communities, especially in a country where DICT is a less mature concept, and in the context of the regional healthcare system. Proactively plan region‑specific community engagement strategy with DICT, Clinical Study Unit and vendors, based on emerging indications and studies. Responsible for understanding the local ecosystem and developing tailored solutions to address the communities most pressing needs.

Goals include:
  • Co‑develop community engagement activities and events
  • Monitor country‑specific metrics for success and culturally appropriate tactics
  • Local digital/media strategy
  • Identification and engagement of trusted messengers/local ambassadors and potential investigators
  • Direct community feedback, focus groups and surveys
Community engagement implementation, event planning and hosting

Strategically plan and host virtual and in‑person events to foster relationships among local community members and contribute to positive wellness outcomes. Planning includes venue search, prep, and outreach to confirm attendance.

Build and maintain robust relationships with new and existing sites and investigators
  • Early site engagement and identification before a clinical trial - completion of a site profile assessment
  • Site assessment and investigator advocacy in alignment with the plan to identify new sites
  • Involvement in processes that influence clinical trial operational performance
  • Boost digital and DICT implementation
  • Collate, prioritise, and recommend solutions
Key Markets and Target Populations

Responsible for determining the appropriate communities to engage for outreach and frequency, including identification of site diversity champions, local KOLs or trusted messengers.

Vendor and Patient Advocacy Group coordination

Responsible for identifying local vendors that can support engagement efforts, such as mobile health units, pharmacies, advertising (marketing) agencies, and tools/materials. Collaborate with Sanofi Community Alliance Network (SCAN) vendors, patient advocacy groups, and other strategic partners to launch local events and activities.

Internal Engagement

Responsible for designing how the role will coordinate with internal Sanofi stakeholders (MSLs, LSMs) based on the structure and ways of working specific to the region.

Support the implementation of R&R at the local level

Work closely with Sanofi stakeholders to support sites in the identification of potential study participants through boots‑on‑the‑ground and in‑office recruitment.

Site issue escalation

Support monitoring teams in issue communication and resolution with sites to improve local quality and identify site resource/infrastructure gaps.

Best practices and lessons learned

Act as the local liaison and subject‑matter expert for clinical trial optimisation based on community feedback. Collaborate proactively with all stakeholders and ensure insights / best practices gained are documented, communicated and lessons learned are shared to reduce repeated operational complexities.

Formal Education and/or Experience Required

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required, plus relevant combination of training and experience. Strong experience in community outreach and public relations, preferably in a healthcare setting. Must be proactive, organised and compassionate. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting. Language: English full professional proficiency or native level required.
