Job summary

Friends of the Earth is seeking a Community Organiser to work with local communities, activists and 200+ Local Action Groups across England to build power and campaign for local change. The role is homebased in Southampton, 30 hours over 4 days, funded for 24 months.

The England team coordinates grassroots organising and supports communities to take action on climate, nature loss and inequality. Closing date is 21 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Relationship building with diverse communities, activists and decision-makers.
• Ability to support communities to identify issues, build power and campaigns.
• Facilitate meetings, workshops and community activities; develop leadership through training.

Responsibilities

• Support communities to identify issues and build campaigns that influence decision-makers.
• Develop leadership and provide mentoring to local groups and volunteers.
• Facilitate meetings and events to mobilize action and foster inclusive participation.
