Job summary

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust in Burnley is seeking a Community Mental Health Practitioner (Band 6) to join Sector Teams. The role involves carrying out mental health assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for children and young people in hospital and community settings.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team under Team Co-Leaders and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, supporting families and collaborating with Health, Education and Social

Qualifications

• RMN/CQSW/DipSW/BSc.OT or other relevant professional qualification.
• Evidence of experience in Mental Health service provision.

Responsibilities

• Undertake assessments of problems and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and advice to children and/or their families/carers.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in addition to working as a sole practitioner, contributing to assessment and treatment decisions.
• Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence based practice and available guidelines, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.
• Deliver services within a hospital setting and community venues.
• Attend and contribute to organised clinical supervision forums with the aim of enhancing one’s own and others clinical practice.
• Liaise and work, with other professionals involved with children and their families/carers, from agencies such as Health, Social Services, Education, Voluntary Services etc.
• Work with other professionals in Primary or Secondary Care settings to educate children's mental health needs in families and social settings.

• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
• Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
• Extensive community physical health and well‑being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long‑term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children's nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessments and clinical intervention for children and young people referred to service. The post holder will provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by the assessed individual need. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person.

This post holder will work under the direction of the Team Co‑Leaders and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists within the Sector Teams.

Person specification

Qualifications

• RMN/CQSW/DipSW/BSc.OT or other relevant professional qualification.
• Evidence of experience in Mental Health service provision.

Knowledge

• High standards of accuracy. Evidence of working with childhood, emotional and psychological development. MDT working.
• Confident at dealing with people over the telephone and face to face.
