Job description

An interesting and varied part-time vacancy has become available for a qualified Band 6 RMN in the Lancaster & Morecambe Older Adult Community Mental Health Team Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about the role and, its development, and be driven to provide excellent mental health services to the local older adult population.

In addition to core professional skills, the post holder will also be expected to undertake a range of other generic clinical duties to support the team functions and be responsive to the needs of patients, their family and carers

The role will involve working within a MDT to support older adult mental health service users in the community to remain at home and prevent hospital admission. Please see the job description for further details about the role and expectations.

The core responsibilities of the post will be to oversee and monitor your own caseload. You will be expected to provide quality assessment, care and treatment programmes to patients with a range of mental health challenges. Supervision will be provided to support you in the role and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • To actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and code of conduct.
  • To provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment formulation planning, monitoring of care given to service users.
  • To undertake mental health assessments including Risk assessments within a multidisciplinary assessment team.
  • To be proficient in referring to other clinicians within the service or referring to other services/agencies where necessary.
  • To provide a fast, responsive service to assess individual’s needs.
  • Providing a communication structure between GP’s, IAPT and non IAPT services in LCFT, non-statuary service, as a means of ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care.
  • To provide mentoring and clinical supervision to other staff and trainees on placement.
  • Where the post holder is a non-medical prescriber, practice responsibly and maintain competence to effectively prescribe from the relevant prescribing formulary.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
