About The Role

This job is to help us extend our reach and support dementia-affected communities. We aim to reach people in all communities, including those at risk of isolation due to language, accessibility needs, identity or background. You will play a crucial role in building and strengthening community links and raising awareness of the services we have available. You will take part in events and talk to groups to raise awareness of dementia and to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community as well as with us. You will also signpost people to access our services.

We are looking for Cantonese speaking Community Link Volunteers to cover the Birmingham & Solihull area.

The role will involve supporting our Dementia Adviser with talks, awareness-raising activities, and group sessions with the Cantonese-speaking community, including:

• Creating and strengthening relationships with communities and individuals.
• Taking part in events and talking to groups to raise awareness of dementia and the support services available.
• Helping to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community and Alzheimer\'s Society.
• Signposting people to access services that are provided by Alzheimer\'s Society.
• You will need to be able to travel independently throughout the Birmingham & Solihull area.
• Hours are various and flexible.

As a Community Link Volunteer, you will also be supporting our Cantonese Information and Support Group for People with Dementia and Carer. The group sessions run on 5 Nov, 19 Nov, 3 Dec, 17 Dec, 7 Jan, 21 Jan, fortnightly on Wednesdays, 6 sessions in total, 11am to 1pm at Chinese Community Centre - Birmingham, 99 Bradford St, Birmingham B12 0NS.
