A leading charity supporting dementia-affected communities is looking for Cantonese-speaking Community Link Volunteers in Birmingham. The role involves supporting Dementia Advisers, participating in events, raising awareness of dementia challenges, and helping connections within the community. Flexible hours are available, and you will be encouraged to attend bi-weekly group sessions. Ideal for individuals passionate about community support.
This job is to help us extend our reach and support dementia-affected communities. We aim to reach people in all communities, including those at risk of isolation due to language, accessibility needs, identity or background. You will play a crucial role in building and strengthening community links and raising awareness of the services we have available. You will take part in events and talk to groups to raise awareness of dementia and to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community as well as with us. You will also signpost people to access our services.
We are looking for Cantonese speaking Community Link Volunteers to cover the Birmingham & Solihull area.
The role will involve supporting our Dementia Adviser with talks, awareness-raising activities, and group sessions with the Cantonese-speaking community, including:
As a Community Link Volunteer, you will also be supporting our Cantonese Information and Support Group for People with Dementia and Carer. The group sessions run on 5 Nov, 19 Nov, 3 Dec, 17 Dec, 7 Jan, 21 Jan, fortnightly on Wednesdays, 6 sessions in total, 11am to 1pm at Chinese Community Centre - Birmingham, 99 Bradford St, Birmingham B12 0NS.
