A leading mental health care organization in Greater Manchester is seeking a Senior Support Worker to provide community-based support for individuals with severe mental health problems. The role involves developing goal plans, monitoring progress, and assisting service users in accessing opportunities for health and independence. Ideal candidates will have experience in mental health support and community engagement, alongside a person-centred approach. The postholder will work as part of the Community Inclusion Service as a senior support worker under the supervision of the team manager and Occupational Therapist. The main purpose of the role is to work with service users, both on a one-to-one and group basis, in a goal and recovery focussed way, to enable individuals to improve their wellbeing and move towards independence. This will involve helping service users to overcome barriers to sustaining engagement in their activities of choice and supporting service users to access mainstream activities in the wider community. The postholder will be responsible for developing links in the community, providing one-to-one support to enable service users to be active, develop their skills and contribute to their communities.
The post involves the co-creation of goal plans with service users and regular reviews and monitoring of service user progress.
The postholder will work with service users who experience severe mental health problems and assist them to access employment, education and training (vocational) opportunities.
