Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is seeking an Environmental Health Officer to support education, compliance, and enforcement across environmental health services. You will contribute to public wellbeing and safety for communities within the Shire.

New graduates are encouraged to apply; the role offers exposure to a range of public health activities and a supportive local government environment to grow your career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or other qualification approved by the Chief Health Officer under Section 18 of the Public Health Act 2016 (as amended).
• Ability to learn the processes and procedures of a local government Community Planning Department.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures concerning current environmental health issues.
• Sound interpersonal, customer service, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound computer literacy skills and in particular Microsoft Office applications.
• Sound organisational and time management skills.
• Sound research, analytical and report writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a small team while completing tasks within identified timeframes and with limited supervision.
• Current unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
