Job Details

Location: B73 6EB, must be willing to work between all our Birmingham leisure centres. Hours: 40 hours per week between Monday to Friday + occasional evenings / weekends when required. Salary: £26,280.07 per annum + Excellent benefits.

About the Role

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in building strong relationships with local communities, voluntary organisations, and partners. You’ll help ensure our leisure centres offer more than just physical activity – creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, feel supported, and thrive. You will work across various leisure centres in Birmingham, identifying opportunities to deliver inclusive, community‑focused activities that meet the diverse needs of local residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and partners
  • Create and manage a comprehensive community contact database
  • Identify and develop opportunities for community activities within leisure centres
  • Liaise with centre staff to book and coordinate activities and sessions
  • Support organisations once activities are established
  • Assist with member sign‑ups and site tours where required
  • Identify and support applications for external grant funding
  • Contribute to and lead the BCLT Sport & Community Engagement Plan
  • Support centre staff with community‑related queries
  • Assist with advertising and promotion of activities
  • Ensure equality, diversity, safeguarding, and privacy needs are understood and met
