Job Overview

We are looking to recruit energetic, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to work with a team of healthcare assistants visiting patients at home to prepare and set up the patients peritoneal dialysis machine or to set up manual peritoneal dialysis. Patients receive at least one visit per day from one of the team, including on weekends and in the evenings. The working pattern includes regular weekend work and late shifts. Shifts are between 8 am and 10 pm on a rota basis. Full training will be given to the successful candidates, but renal experience is desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to patients throughout Nottinghamshire (full driving licence required) and use a reliable vehicle.
  • Prepare and set up patients’ automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) machine in their homes.
  • Conduct manual peritoneal dialysis fluid exchanges when requested.
  • Carry out peritoneal dialysis fluid changes in patients’ homes when required.
  • Switch patients off and disconnect them from their dialysis machine in the morning.
  • Organise and count dialysis stock, monitor patient stock of equipment, and pick up stock when requested.
  • Change patient dressings to their dialysis tube.
  • Assist qualified nurses in the Home Therapies Unit and act as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Help on Home Therapies Unit supporting clinics and day‑case patients when required.
Qualifications & Requirements

  • Desirable: experience in renal or dialysis care.
  • Willingness to work weekends and late shifts (8 am‑10 pm).

We are a team of nurses caring for patients undergoing dialysis treatment at home. We teach patients how to do their own dialysis at home and then monitor and support the patient and their family at home.
