Job description

Worcester is a proud, vibrant, and diverse city with a strong sense of community. As we continue to strengthen our partnerships and deliver services that make a real difference to our residents, we are excited to offer an opportunity for a talented and motivated leader to join us as our Community Development and Partnerships Manager.

This is a pivotal role in the Council, developed to bring together and lead our Community Services Team driving forward our work on community engagement, community safety, and community cohesion.

About the role

As Community Development and Partnerships Manager, you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Council’s community services functions.
  • Lead on the delivery of a range of policies, strategies and action plans including Worcester’s new Community Engagement Strategy, the South Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership Action Plan and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Build strong relationships with local partners, including voluntary and community organisations, public services, and residents.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen community safety, promote inclusion, and support civic pride across Worcester.
  • Develop innovative approaches to community engagement, ensuring that local voices shape Council priorities and decisions.
  • Champion collaborative working and co-production, helping communities to thrive and become more resilient.

You will play a key role in ensuring that Worcester City Council continues to deliver services that are responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the diverse communities we serve.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader who is passionate about community development and partnership working. You will bring:

  • Proven experience in leading community-focused teams or projects.
  • Strong partnership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across sectors.
  • A track record of delivering community engagement, safety, or cohesion initiatives.
  • Strategic thinking, creativity, and a results‑driven approach as well as a strong operational approach to delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to equality, inclusion, and empowerment.
