Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality treatment planning, preventive and urgent/routine NHS dental care for patients, including children, adults with additional needs or special dental requirements in accordance with NHS Regulations and provider requirements. Maintain a flexible patient‑centred approach to treatment planning and service provision.
  • Manage day‑to‑day activities of the dental surgery in conjunction with other team members. Maintain proper clinical standards, including infection control procedures and efficient use of resources.
  • Provide urgent dental care for patients who cannot access NHS dental care. Accept referrals from General Dental Service colleagues to complement other primary care providers. Prescribe appropriate items of dental care for delivery by other team members ensuring optimal use of available skill mix. Ensure all treatment plans and care are fully explained to patients and records are correctly noted. Travel across Herefordshire to deliver dental care.

Position Details

We seek to appoint a Community Dental Officer – Band A based at Gaol Street and Asda Dental Access centres. Part‑time hours will be considered. The Community Dental Service within WVT is a commissioned service comprising five clinics: two in Hereford city, one in Leominster, one in Ross‑on‑Wye and one in Ledbury. The service provides a high standard of oral health care to a wide range of patient groups including children and adults with specific needs.

Salary: £52,532 to £78,798 a year plus unsocial hours enhancement of 10%.
