Job summary

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) seeks a reliable Caretaker to join our team at the Benchill Community Centre. You’ll ensure the space is safe, clean, and ready for daily activities, including room setup, cleaning, basic repairs, and customer interactions.

The role involves split shifts Monday to Friday, 7am–9:30am and 3:30pm–7pm, with DBS checks prior to commencing. A range of employee benefits are offered to support health, wellbeing and community involvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, facilities support, or similar practical roles.
• Knowledge of building safety, cleaning, and basic maintenance.
• Good understanding of health and safety compliance and reporting processes.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with working hours (split shifts).
• Friendly, helpful attitude with strong customer service focus.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms in line with booking schedules, including equipment and refreshments.
• Clean and sanitise communal areas, meeting rooms, and facilities between uses.
• Perform regular security checks and basic building maintenance.
• Litter pick and maintain grounds and external facilities.
• Ensure safe building access, carry out lock-up and alarm procedures.
• Work closely with facilities and operations teams to support events and activities.
• Provide reception cover and general customer support when needed.
• Report faults, incidents or safeguarding concerns in line with procedures.
