We are currently recruiting to an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position in the North Mental Health & Wellness Team, based at Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX. This is a replacement, substantive, full-time post - 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) post with 7.5 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs).

The post holder will work alongside another 1.8wte Consultants as well as a full-time Specialty Doctor, 1wte Core Trainee, a 0.4wte GPvTS trainee, and 1wte Foundation Year Trainee, in the North Mental Health Wellness Team, and provide care to the adult residents of the Electoral Wards named Chadwell Heath, Whalebone, Becontree, Valence, Parsloes, and Heath.

Job responsibilities

You will be expected to:

Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to adult people with mental health needs, across Northern Barking and Dagenham.

Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team

Work directly with adults and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external adult mental health providers and acute hospitals

Participate in the on-call rota frequency is currently 1:50, with a 3% of basic salary, Category A on-call supplement.

Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member whilst allowing them to work with their own initiative

Work alongside other Adult Consultant Psychiatrists, a Specialty Doctor, and trainees within the service.

Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals, and agencies.
