Starting Salary: £26,403 per annum (SLCC scale 7 – 12)

Job Type: Full-time (37 hours). Fixed term contract for a period of twenty‑four months. There is a 6‑month probation period and a job evaluation will take place during this time.

Work Location: office based (with some work within the community)

Location: Prestatyn, North Wales, LL19 9LR

Prestatyn Town Council are recruiting for a full‑time Community & Administration Officer to join our small team in the Nant Hall Road office (LL19 9LR). The Council is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive person to take the Council forward to meet the challenges and opportunities within the local council sector.

The position will be office and community based for 37 hours per week, to help with day‑to‑day community‑based initiatives and general office administration.

Previous experience in an administration role or setting and events role or setting is required, along with a good level of education, a can‑do attitude, an organised and practical approach to problem solving, strong public relations skills, administration skills, good IT literacy and the ability to work well alone, unsupervised or as part of a team.

The ability to coordinate, manage and balance your workload under pressure and provide an outstanding service to the council and community is important. A driving licence and experience of working within the public sector would be beneficial.

Employment Details

Full time: 37 hours per week with half an hour unpaid break.

Working hours: 9am – 5pm Monday – Thursday / 9am – 4.30pm Friday.

List of Duties
  • General receptionist, administration and filing duties, as needed
  • Interact with residents and general members of the public as the first point of contact
  • Provide mayoral support – interact with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor (and any other councillors as appropriate) to plan their diaries, activities and events
  • Plan, oversee and carry out events and community activities and initiatives – in conjunction with the rest of the team as needed
  • Update and maintain Prestatyn Town Council’s social media presence
  • Aid colleagues with their workload and tasks, when appropriate
  • Any other duties as required

Reports to: Assistant Town Clerk & Town Clerk

Essential Qualifications
  • Good level of education – minimum of Maths & English GCSE (A – C / 9 – 4) level
  • Experience in an administration role or setting
  • Experience in an events role or setting
  • Strong public relations skills, i.e. dealing with the public in a face‑to‑face setting
  • Administration skills
  • IT literacy & strong social media knowledge and skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • UK driving licence and own vehicle
