Key responsibilities
- Work within the Clinical Support Team to provide comprehensive clerical support service.
- Responsibility for data entry and maintenance of database systems.
- Assist in the organisation of workload management – word processing, distributing, filing, etc.
- Liaison with clinical and admin staff both within and outside the department.
- Contact with patients and other relevant external agencies, including extensive contact with GP patients.
- Book appointments.
Main duties
- Liaison with staff both within and outside the department, including contact with GP patients, families and other external agencies.
- Provide and receive complex/sensitive information requiring tact, empathy and diplomacy.
- Respond to a high volume of external/internal enquiries via personal, written and telephone queries.
- Implement instructions involving liaising with patients, families, hospitals, GPs and other agencies in connection to patients and their care.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Book appointments as required.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
- GCSEs grade C and above, including English and Mathematics.
- NVQ 3 in admin/customer care or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge & Experience
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrable record of recording data and maintaining databases and other sources of information.
- Previous experience of working for the NHS.
- Experience with Cerner.
Skills, Abilities and Attributes
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, relatives, healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure.
