Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a proactive Communities Locality Lead for Selby & Ainsty to drive place-based community empowerment and collaborative services with partners across public, private and voluntary sectors.

You will develop and support local projects, manage budgets and staff where required, and represent the council at local meetings. The role requires travel across North Yorkshire and occasional evening attendance.

We’re looking for an inspiring, community‑focused leader to join our Localities Service as the Communities team Locality Lead for Selby & Ainsty.

This is a high‑impact role at the heart of our ambition to be the most local large council in England. You will work collaboratively alongside partners across the public, business and voluntary sectors to build confident, resilient communities that can respond to local challenges, reduce inequalities and support people to live longer, healthier and more independent lives in the places they call home.

Key Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with other service teams, community anchor organisations, parish councils and local voluntary groups.

The role requires travel across North Yorkshire and occasional attendance at evening meetings.

About you

We are seeking a confident, experienced team player with an attention to detail, experience of working with a range of community partners and a passion for community empowerment and local government transformation.
