Job summary

Fortescue Zero Racing seeks a Communications Principal to lead its communications strategy across Formula E events and related activities. You will work with Fortescue Brand and Communications to maximise media opportunities and ensure high-quality communications that support Fortescue Zero’s brand priorities.

The role requires strong media relations skills, experience with broadcast partners, and the ability to manage communications across international race weekends and public events.

About The Role

The Communications Principal will lead the delivery of Fortescue Zero Formula E’s communications strategy, including across race weekends, testing programmes and public events. Working closely with Fortescue’s Brand and Communications global teams, the role will strengthen the team’s profile, maximise media opportunities and ensure consistent, high-quality communications that support Fortescue Zero’s brand and strategic priorities.

What you will do

• Deliver the Fortescue Zero Formula E communications strategy in partnership with Fortescue’s Brand and Communications division.
• Lead communications activity across races, tests, launches and other public events involving the team, drivers and senior personnel.
• Prepare written and verbal briefings, key messages and interview guidance for drivers and senior team members.
• Manage relationships with Formula E broadcast partners, accredited media, FEO, the FIA and other relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure the team is well represented in promoter-led communications and media opportunities.
• Support the development and delivery of media training for race drivers, test drivers and other team representatives.
• Identify and secure proactive earned‑media opportunities across international and national print, digital and broadcast channels.
• Produce press releases, media briefings, talking points, Q&As and other communications materials.
• Establishment and upkeep, together with Fortescue’s global brand and communications team, of a Fortescue Racing Emergency and Disaster Management and Recovery plan.
• Support reactive media management and provide guidance on sensitive or reputational matters.
• Regularly monitor media coverage and produce post-event media reports covering coverage, reach, sentiment and key insights.
• Prepare earned‑media reports to support the Fortescue Zero sales and commercial teams, as required.
• Manage and develop the team’s social media resource, ensuring alignment with the communications strategy and Fortescue brand guidelines.
• Work collaboratively with team, corporate, commercial, technical and external stakeholders.

About You

• Significant experience and qualifications in communications, media relations, public relations or sports communications.
• Experience working with broadcast partners, journalists and senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience preparing public-facing representatives for media engagements.
• Proven ability to develop proactive media campaigns and manage event communications.
• Strong judgement, organisation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Flexibility to work across international race weekends, tests and public events.
• Experience in Formula E, motorsport, automotive, engineering, technology or sustainability communications would be desirable.
