Working under the direction of IMPACT’s Communications Manager, this post is responsible for the development and implementation of communications for IMPACT to grow the reputation and profile of the centre, its areas of expertise and its work.
Experienced in both digital and offline activity, the post-holder will work closely with colleagues to deliver a flexible and innovative approach across the broad spectrum of communications. The post-holder will manage and implement multiple projects across research communications, public engagement, policy impact, events, and profile-raising.
The Communications Officer will work collaboratively with key staff to develop key strategic relationships with and for IMPACT. As part of IMPACT’s Communications Team, the post holder will also take a lead role in centre-wide initiatives, as required and as directed by the Communications Manager, and will also work closely with the wider team.
IMPACT [Improving Adult Care Together] is the UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care. Working across the four nations and with co‑production at its heart, we draw on insights from research, lived experience, and practice knowledge to make a difference to front‑line services, and to people’s lives.
It is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Health Foundation. Our Leadership Team is made up of 15 individuals, led by Professor Jon Glasby at the University of Birmingham. The Communications Team, is part of the Core Team which is also based at the University of Birmingham.
The role is required to work independently on daily, weekly and monthly tasks but also on projects with medium‑longer‑term horizons without daily supervision.
You will work with direction from your managers but you will have a significant degree of autonomy. You will deal with more complex queries and be expected to resolve any problems in your area of responsibility.
You will liaise with internal colleagues and stakeholders University‑wide and also with external stakeholders.
