Overview

Are you a proactive and enthusiastic communications professional looking to develop your career in the largest NHS community healthcare trust in England?

This is a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract secondment opportunity, covering maternity leave. We are looking for a creative, organised and dynamic Communications Officer to join our central communications team. You will plan and deliver internal and external communications campaigns, create engaging content for our channels, and lead on specific events. You will join a team that aims to do our best for our staff and patients, works collaboratively, and supports growth and development.

This role requires high organisation to provide a responsive service and the ability to build strong working relationships with staff across the Trust and with external partners and stakeholders.

Main duties

As the Communications Officer, you will work as a key member of the CLCH central communications team, delivering a wide range of internal and external communications activities. You will plan, deliver and evaluate high quality communications plans and provide communications advice and support on operational matters. You will help the Trust build and maintain a positive reputation as a high quality NHS provider and employer of choice in all its service areas. You will bring creativity, strong writing skills and organisational ability to improve staff experience and engagement and enhance our external profile. The postholder will act as a communications generalist across internal communications and engagement; external communications and stakeholder engagement; social media; event management; and some media relations.

Education/Qualification
  • Essential: GCSE English Language or equivalent; Postgraduate diploma or equivalent level qualification or experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or public relations
  • Desirable: Training and/or experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes; Evidence of continued professional development
Experience
  • Essential: Experience in a specialist communications/public relations role within a dedicated communications team/agency, or of working in the media
  • Desirable: Experience of working in the NHS or public sector
