Job description

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and collaborative Communications Manager to join Forsters’ Business Development and Marketing (BD&M) team.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager the Communications Manager will lead the planning and delivery of Forsters’ client-focused communications and content programme, working closely with colleagues across the BD&M team, legal groups and Knowledge.

You will play a key role in shaping our external communications strategy, identifying opportunities to showcase the firm’s expertise, developing compelling client-focused content across a range of channels, driving client engagement and enquiries, and helping to strengthen Forsters’ market profile and positioning.

What sort of work?
Content and communications
  • Help our legal teams to translate legal expertise and complex issues into high-quality, engaging, market-facing content across a variety of formats.
  • Work closely with legal teams, Business Development colleagues and Knowledge Development Lawyers to identify priority themes, sector developments, client stories and areas of expertise to promote.
  • Monitor legal, commercial and sector developments, as well as competitor activity, to identify and share emerging topics, trends and opportunities for thought leadership.
  • Develop and manage content plans that align with the firm’s strategic priorities and business development objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to showcase the firm’s expertise through thought leadership campaigns, client stories, deal announcements and case studies.
  • Coordinate the creation, editing and distribution of top-quality content across multiple channels (including written, audio and video), ensuring consistency of on-brand messaging and tone of voice.
  • Bring a strong understanding of SEO/GEO/AIO principles to enhance digital content and maximise its reach.
  • Track content and communication trends across the legal sector and other professional services industries, recommending new approaches, formats and channels where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Senior Digital Executive to ensure content is shared effectively across Forsters’ digital channels.
Media and PR
  • Handle inbound media enquiries, working with lawyers and relevant stakeholders to coordinate timely and effective responses.
  • Identify and secure media and PR opportunities for practice groups that do not have dedicated agency support.
  • Develop relationships with journalists and media contacts to support the firm’s profile and reputation.
  • Track Forsters’ media coverage and produce activity reports.
  • Draft media materials, including press releases, statements and briefing documents where required.
  • Work with the Senior Communications Manager and Business Development team as appropriate to draft award submissions.
  • Work with external agencies where engaged, ensuring activity aligns with the firm’s objectives and messaging.
General
  • Support wider communications activity across the firm as required, including internal communications, corporate communications, events and social media.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of communications processes, content standards and best practice across the firm.
