Job summary

Opus People Solutions Ltd is supporting a national organisation by appointing an experienced Communications Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Job description

Communications Manager

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum depending on experience

Contract: 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Working Pattern: Predominantly home-based working. Applications are welcomed from candidates across England. Willingness and commitment required as on occasions you will need to attend meetings in different locations - Travel to meetings, events and London and Stockport offices so flexibility to travel is essential.

Our client a national membership organisation representing Local Authority Building Control teams across England and Wales.

As our client continues to evolve, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Communications Manager to join the organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is far more than a communications delivery role.

We are looking for someone who can help shape the future of its communications function bringing strategic thinking, fresh ideas and a proactive approach to how the organisation communicates with members, stakeholders and the wider sector.

Working closely with senior leaders, you'll have the opportunity to influence organisational messaging, strengthen brand voice and develop communications that engage a wide range of audiences.

The Role

You’ll lead the day-to-day communications function while developing a more strategic communications approach across the organisation.

Managing a small team of Communications Coordinators, you'll oversee communications across digital channels, website, email, social media, media relations and stakeholder engagement, ensuring communications are clear, consistent and aligned with organisational priorities.

A key part of the role will be understanding the different audiences our client supports and translating technical, policy and industry information into engaging, accessible communications that add value to members and stakeholders.

You’ll also work closely with senior leaders to develop communications plans, identify opportunities to strengthen engagement and continually enhance communications internally and externally.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Communications Manager with previous team leadership experience and the confidence to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience developing and delivering communications strategies and plans.

  • Experience managing communications across multiple channels.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

Experience within a membership organisation, professional body, public sector, regulatory environment or built environment would be advantageous, although we welcomes applications from candidates with transferable communications experience from other complex organisations.
