Salary: £45,894-£54,952 (2025/26 paw award pending). Usually appoint at the bottom of the banding, would pay higher in the banding for exceptional circumstances

Description

Morgan Hunt is pleased to be given the responibility of bringing a newly created role of Communications Manager to the market for ILF Scotland. ILF Scotland is a Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) in Scotland constituted as a company by limited guarantee. It was created following the closure of the UK ILF in June 2015 and has been administering ILF funding for existing fund recipients in Scotland and Northern Ireland since 1 July 2015. In April 2024, the Independent Living Fund re-opened to new applicants in Scotland.

ILF Scotland distributes annual funding of around £62m to support recipients to lead independent lives. The organisation has a staff team of around 80, who provide services for approximately 5,500 current fund recipients split between the Independent Living Fund and Transition Fund.

The Role

This is a newly created role following an exciting period of growth for ILF Scotland. As Communications Manager, you will lead the Communications Team and help shape how ILF Scotland communicates its purpose, values and achievements across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You Will:
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of communications, internal and external messaging
  • Assist the Communications Lead with developing and delivering ILF Scotland's inclusive and values aligned communications and engagement strategy.
  • Lead, coach and develop existing team
  • Promote the brand, value and work to diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Mitigate reputational and political risk by supporting the Communications Lead in the delivery of quality strategies, worplans, products and materials ensuring exposure to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Deputise for the Communications Lead as and when required
  • Be a member of the operational management team and the Crisis support team
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee communications planning and team workstreams to deliver strategic objectives
  • Lead media relations, press activity and PR Campaigns
  • Ensure messaging is consistent, accurate and accessible
  • Support crisis and issues management, including out of hours on a rota basis
  • Provide oversight of digital marketing, website content, social media and analytics
  • Manage and evaluate ILF Scotland events and public engagement actiivty
  • Strengthen internal communications and organisational alignment
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, journalists, stakeholders and government partners
About You
You will bring:
  • Degree-level qualification in Communications or relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrable experience in a communications management role, ideally in the public or third sector
  • Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in leading a team and managing complex workflows
  • Strong media handling skills and experience of PR campaign delivery
  • Excellent judgment, creativity and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in digital communications and marketing channels
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to work flexibly including occasional out-of-hours and travel for events
  • CIPR membership/qualifications are desirable
