Temporary Communications Manager

Location : Inverness

Hours : 37 per week

Salary : £41,608 per annum

Contract : 12 weeks initially, start date ASAP

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Communications Manager to join our clients team on a temporary basis. This role will support best-practice communications and engagement, helping to improve the operation of the organisation and ensure clear, timely, and effective communication across multiple channels.

You will provide expert advice on communications, marketing, media, social media / digital, and reputation management, supporting both routine and strategic work. You will also develop and deliver communications campaigns that achieve measurable outcomes, championing best practice and ensuring value for money.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and support communications plans and campaigns aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Set measurable, outcome-focused objectives and continually evaluate communications effectiveness.
  • Provide advice and support on all communications channels, including print, broadcast, digital, social media, video, and web content.
  • Project manage events, launches, visits, and presentations, ensuring smooth operations and media coverage.
  • Act as a communications link between the organisation and external stakeholders including local authorities, community groups, and government bodies.
  • Deliver training to colleagues on plain English, social media, tone of voice, and communications best practice.
  • Participate in media response functions, including research, analysis, and drafting responses to media enquiries.
  • Contribute to routine team tasks such as media monitoring, corporate publications, social media moderation, and website content support.
  • Participate in a shared out-of-hours on-call rota (pay supplement applies).
