A local government authority in the City of London is seeking a communications professional to join their team. This role involves creating and delivering diverse content aimed at residents and businesses, evaluating communication effectiveness, and working collaboratively with team members. Candidates should have strong strategic communication skills and experience in a public sector environment. Opportunities for professional growth are provided.
You’ll play an important role in our busy and supportive team, helping to ensure the Council speaks with one voice, seeks out and listens to all opinions and concerns of local residents, businesses and partners, delivers on its commitments and responds honestly.
You’ll work with team members to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate content for different audiences across a range of service areas.

We are looking for someone who can take a strategic approach to communicating with residents and has the skills to tailor content for different channels and audiences. This person should have some experience of working within a complex, political environment with a practical understanding of the challenges facing the public sector.
There are so many opportunities for us to tell Sutton’s story, but with conflicting demands, we need someone who is organised, who can prioritise, and who can spot and capture great content. The role therefore requires the ability to work from the office and/or be out in the borough capturing content at least two days a week.
Communications is always evolving, so when it comes to technical skills, training and support will be provided. What is most important is a positive, proactive approach and willingness to learn.
This role within Sutton Council’s Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs Team will give you the knowledge, skills and experience needed to grow your career in local government communications, while making a real difference to people’s lives.
