Communication Specialist Teaching Assistant: Wakefield

Location: Wakefield (various resource provisions)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £90 £120 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities (full-time), with potential for permanent positions

Are you a natural communicator with a passion for helping every child find their voice?
PK Education are looking for enthusiastic Communication Specialist Teaching Assistants to work across a range of resource provisions in Wakefield, supporting pupils from EYFS to KS4 who have profound interaction and communication needs.

This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference for pupils who predominantly have diagnoses of Autism and require support with non-verbal and verbal communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, sensory activities, and overall learning and development.

What you'll be doing:
  • Supporting pupils with a variety of communication needs through structured activities, sensory play and personalised strategies.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence in expressing themselves and building positive relationships.
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to support emotional regulation, engagement and progress.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists and SENCOs to create meaningful learning experiences.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally Autism and communication needs.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach someone who can think creatively and stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education and helping every learner thrive.
