Comms and Engagement Project Officer (maternity cover)

Due to maternity leave an exciting opportunity has arisen for a role within research to lead on, manage and deliver a wide range of communication and engagement activities for research. This is a key role in the promotion of research and raising awareness of research activity and its importance in the improvement of healthcare and wellbeing both internally to staff and externally to patients and our population, encouraging them to take part in research.

The postholder will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of communication and engagement strategies, projects and campaigns for a wide range of research initiatives including the Bradford Institute for Health Research, NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Center and the Academic Unit for Ageing and Stroke Research (ASR).

Main duties of the job

Applicants must possess substantial communication/ PR/ marketing experience and skills with demonstrable experience of working in a large, complex organisation. It is expected that applicants will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience; previous experience of working in the NHS and knowledge of research in the NHS is desirable. With a proven track record to lead and deliver on multiple projects, they will have the ability to manage their time effectively, prioritise their workload and have a flexible approach to work.

Skills
  • Excellent writing, editorial and proof-reading skills. Able to translate jargon and turn complex information into plain English.

Experience
  • Working within a marketing, communications, or public relations related field.
  • Professional experience of developing and implementing digital and social media, including but not limited to Facebook; Twitter, YouTube; Google+.
  • Proven experience of using own initiative
  • Using online systems to develop and distribute e-bulletins.
  • Working on websites, intranets, and other media to ensure quality, user-friendly, dynamic content.
  • Experience of CMS (content management systems).
  • Ability to lead development of effective digital plans and communication strategies for multiple projects.
  • Experience of liaising with members of the community, user groups and business stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent experience of working at a similar level in communications or marketing
