Job summary

Criddle & Co Ltd is seeking a Commercial Commodity Trader in the UK to source and trade feed raw materials. The role reports to the Managing Director and offers exposure to market dynamics, risk management, and strategic trading decision-making.

You will drive profitable trading by negotiating with suppliers, monitoring markets, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This position promises ongoing professional growth within a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years proven experience within commodity trading, feed materials procurement, or a related agricultural commercial role.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and financial skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiating and trading feed raw materials to maximise profitability while effectively managing risk
• Monitoring commodity markets, pricing trends, weather impacts, and industry developments to support informed trading decisions
• Managing the full trade lifecycle, including negotiations, contracts, margin tracking, and settlements
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers, brokers, and key internal and external stakeholders
• Identifying commercial opportunities to drive growth and improve margins
• Coordinating with forwarding, operations, finance, and quality teams to ensure smooth execution of trades
• Resolving operational, logistical, or quality issues to maintain continuity of supply
• Managing market exposure and supporting risk management strategies
• Contributing to the achievement of trading targets and wider business objectives
• Maintaining accurate records and market intelligence within company systems
• As you develop within the role, you'll gain increasing ownership of supplier relationships, trading positions, and key customer accounts.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Criddle as a Commodity Trader, where you'll

play a key role in sourcing and trading feed raw materials across the UK. Reporting into the Managing Director, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your skills.

This is a fast-paced, commercially focused role offering real responsibility and the opportunity to

build market expertise, develop trading strategies, and make a direct impact on business

performance. Working closely with suppliers, customers, brokers, and internal stakeholders,

you'll be at the heart of trading activity and decision-making.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be responsible for driving profitable trading activity by:

• Good knowledge of feed raw material markets and commodity trading principles
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and financial skills
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to make confident commercial decisions in a fast-moving environment
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience managing trading risk and market exposure
• Knowledge of commodity contracts and supply chain processes
• Experience using D365 or similar ERP systems
• Existing industry contacts and market knowledge
