Job summary

Orion Electrotech is looking for a Commodity Buyer to own a key commodity from concept through end-of-life. You will negotiate contracts, prices and terms with suppliers and review opportunities to achieve cost savings using best-practice procurement techniques.

The role requires experience in automotive/aerospace or manufacturing settings, with exposure to raw material market data and NAV familiarity. Hybrid working is offered, with a mix of office and home-based days.

Qualifications

• MCIPS or studying towards CIPS qualification required.
• Experience in automotive/aerospace or manufacturing environments.
• Experience with raw material market data, indices and platforms.
• Strong understanding of supply chain processes and components.

Responsibilities

• Own the commodity and end-to-end supply chain activities from concept to end-of-life.
• Negotiate contracts, prices and terms with suppliers.
• Identify opportunities to achieve cost savings using procurement best practices.
• Analyse supplier performance and raw material market data to drive improvements.

Job description

My client was established in 2009 and is seen as a world-leading OEM across a number of Engineering industries.

As the Commodity Buyer, you are responsible for acting as a single point of accountability for their commodity, owning all commercial and supply chain activities from initial concept through to end-of-life. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to negotiate contracts, prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.

What we would like from the Commodity Buyer:

• Previous proven experience within a similar role
• MCIPS or studying towards CIPS qualification
• Experience working in an automotive/aerospace or manufacturing environment
• Previous exposure and experience working with raw material market data, indices, and platforms
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of processes and components and supply chain management
• Experience in supplier/customer relationship management
• Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment and experience in leading cost reduction activities
• Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
