Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Commissioning Officer to join our Children’s Services team. This pivotal role will lead the commissioning of services that make a real difference to children, young people, and families in Haringey.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the planning, procurement, and management of services, ensuring contracts and service specifications are robust, compliant, and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end commissioning cycle, including research, planning, procurement, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear, evidence‑based reports and recommendations to senior management, supporting effective decision‑making and resource allocation.
  • Manage and support a team of Commissioning Officers, ensuring policies are followed and high standards of practice are maintained.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Children’s Services, Procurement, and partner organisations to ensure services meet needs and deliver value.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of legal procedures, local and national policies, and legislative frameworks, ensuring compliance at every stage.
  • Drive service improvements by identifying opportunities, recommending changes, and ensuring these are implemented effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with providers and stakeholders to ensure commissioning plans align with departmental priorities and deliver the best outcomes for children and families.
Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in service commissioning, procurement, and contract management. You will bring proven expertise in managing and organising data to support service design and ensure contract requirements are met.

With substantial experience working at a senior level, ideally within the public sector, you will be confident in leading teams and driving high‑quality outcomes.

You will have a solid understanding of legal procedures, local and national policies, and legislative frameworks, alongside excellent communication skills and knowledge of GDPR and information security protocols.
