Job summary

Bekk R Solutions is seeking a proactive Commissioning Engineer – Electrical to support wastewater projects across Devon. Based in Exeter, you will coordinate commissioning of mechanical, electrical and process systems, ensuring safety, quality and smooth handovers to clients.

You will collaborate with project teams, subcontractors and client representatives, managing plans, procedures and documentation to deliver on time and to standard. Travel across the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in commissioning wastewater or water projects.
• Strong communication and teamwork across project teams.
• Proficient in planning, documentation, and site procedures.
• SMSTS and CSCS cards.
• BS7671 18th Edition (essential).
• CompEx qualifications preferred.
• Willingness to travel to sites across the region.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver commissioning activities, including procedures, plans and handover documentation.
• Review designs, specifications and subcontractor documents to spot commissioning risks and ensure installations are ready for testing and handover.
• Work closely with project teams, subcontractors and client representatives, attending commissioning meetings and coordinating site activities.
• Track commissioning progress, produce regular reports, organise client witnessing, sampling and training, and help compile O&M manuals.
• Help resolve commissioning and snagging issues through to project completion and the defects liability period.

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading UK engineering and construction contractor who has recently been appointed to a new water framework. They’re looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join their Infrastructure team, delivering wastewater projects for a major water utility client across Devon.

You’ll join the project delivery team and play a key role in planning, coordinating and supporting the commissioning of mechanical, electrical and process systems. Your focus will be making sure projects are delivered safely and efficiently and are ready for a smooth handover to the client. It’s a great chance to join a growing team working on essential water infrastructure that makes a real difference to local communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver commissioning activities, including procedures, plans and handover documentation

You’ll be proactive, well organised and passionate about delivering high-quality engineering in the water sector. You’ll bring:

• Commissioning experience or knowledge in wastewater or the wider water industry
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work well across project teams
• Good IT skills and a methodical approach to planning and documentation
• SMSTS and CSCS cards
• BS7671 18th Edition (essential)
• CompEx qualifications (preferred)
• A relevant engineering qualification (desirable)
• Willingness to travel to sites across the region
