Position Overview

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager to lead and manage the commissioning of complex engineering solutions across Power, Oil & Gas, Marine, and Industrial/OEM markets.

Job Description

This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, meeting customer specifications and legislative requirements throughout manufacture, construction, and delivery. You will play a pivotal role in resource planning, technical leadership, and driving best practices in commissioning processes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead commissioning programmes for major projects, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Provide specialist input during the sales process and maintain alignment between commissioning activities and the sales pipeline.
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and documentation to support successful project handover.
  • Manage and optimise commissioning resources, including recruitment, competency development, and training plans.
  • Monitor team performance, provide mentoring, and implement improvements to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Programme Planners, and suppliers to ensure tooling, calibration, and documentation requirements are met.
  • Oversee commissioning budgets, report progress, and recommend actions to mitigate risks and ensure contractual obligations are achieved.
  • Promote compliance with EH&S principles, CDM/site safety legislation, and company governance standards.
  • Build strong customer relationships and represent the business in commissioning programmes with clients and end users.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Electrical) or HNC/HND with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Power, Oil & Gas, Marine, and Industrial sectors.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Expertise in process development and quality assurance.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of EH&S principles and CDM/site safety legislation.
  • Ability to manage budgets, resources, and performance effectively.
  • Achievement-driven with strong relationship-building and team leadership capabilities.
