Job summary

Kanadevia Inova seeks an experienced Commissioning Lead Engineer - BOP to drive commissioning activities at our Walsall Energy-from-Waste facility. You will lead BOP commissioning, ensure safe testing and handover in line with project requirements, and coordinate with site teams to meet programme targets.

This fixed-term contract provides exposure to high-profile infrastructure projects in a heavy industrial setting, with potential for maintenance engineering responsibilities based on project

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical/process engineering background in heavy industry or energy-from-waste environments.
• Experience leading commissioning activities on large-scale industrial projects.
• Strong HSEQ knowledge including risk assessments, permit-to-work, and LOTO.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining project programme.
• Excellent communication, planning, and reporting skills; proficient with MS Office.

• Lead and coordinate commissioning activities within your assigned area, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Champion HSEQ standards, ensuring compliance with procedures, risk assessments, permits, and LOTO systems.
• Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and vendors during commissioning activities, ensuring safe work per drawings and specs.
• Collaborate with site management, engineering, construction, HSE, and commercial teams to support delivery and handover.
• Produce commissioning records, reports, quality documentation, lessons learned, and progress updates in project systems.

Commissioning Lead Engineer - BOP (Contract)

Kanadevia Inova is seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead Engineer - BOP to support our commissioning activities at our Walsall Energy-from-Waste facility. Reporting into the site commissioning leadership team, you will play a key role in leading Balance of Plant (BOP) commissioning activities, ensuring systems are safely tested, commissioned, and handed over in line with project requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a commissioning professional with Energy-from-Waste, power generation, or heavy industrial project experience to contribute to a high-profile infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate commissioning activities within your assigned area, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Champion Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards, ensuring compliance with project procedures, risk assessments, permit-to-work, and LOTO systems.
• Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and vendors during commissioning activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with site management, engineering, construction, HSE, and commercial teams to support successful project delivery and system handover.
• Produce commissioning records, reports, quality documentation, lessons learned, and maintain progress updates through project reporting systems.

Please note: This role is advertised as Commissioning Lead Engineer - BOP; however, the successful candidate's internal job title will be Maintenance Engineer, with commissioning and maintenance engineering responsibilities undertaken according to project requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a mechanical, process, commissioning, or maintenance engineering role within Energy-from-Waste, power generation, or similar industrial environments.

• Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements, including risk assessments, permit-to-work processes, and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, contractors, and vendors while maintaining programme commitments.
• Strong communication, planning, problem-solving, and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
