Amentum are currently recruiting a Commissioning Environmental Engineer who is part of a team of CommOps Industrial and Fire Safety professionals. The post holder will report to the Commissioning Environment Lead and will work closely with Commissioning Delivery teams across the project to enable them to carry out their critical work in a manner that minimises our impact on the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain and improve Environmental Safety controls to address risks across the Commissioning programme.
- Assist in the monitoring, coordination and review of Environmental activities in accordance with the HPC Safety Management System and CommOps Environmental Management Plans.
- Produce Environmental safety performance reports, ensuring all performance data is provided to the Commissioning Environment Lead and Commissioning Managers in accordance with agreed timeframes, including identification of trends, early warnings of possible issues, and recommendation of remedial actions.
- Positively engage with and influence the Commissioning programme on key Environmental issues/risks/Hazards relating to the Commissioning process.
- Support Regulatory Interfaces.
- Undertake and review risk‑based assessments, Environmental safety inspections and Environmental safety assurance activities.
- Provide assurance on compliance with applicable legal duties.
- Be an effective and participative member of a community of Health, Safety and Environmental professionals across the HPC Project.
- Support Emergency Preparedness and effective Environmental Incident Management to help ensure that the HPC project is delivered in a manner that protects the environment and our community.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified (or an equivalent level of experience) in an Environment related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop a wide network and working relationships within EDF.
- Experience or understanding of environmental compliance arrangements in a regulated industry.
- Experience of writing, implementing or reviewing environmental specifications and environmental risk assessments.
- Knowledge of the legal environmental permitting and waste management framework within the UK.
- Knowledge of groundwater, surface water and soil assessment and monitoring.
- Strong focus on identifying Environmental risks and implications, and communication skills to present complex concepts and data in a way that is readily understood and actionable.
- Able to produce high quality records and reports, providing assurance through communication of Environmental data and information to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to engage with others on environmental issues and provide practical advice on how technical issues should be addressed.
