This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Commissioning Environmental Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You’ll help ensure the commissioning process is carried out in a way that protects the environment and supports a sustainable future.

This is a permanent role, based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. Working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be:

  • Creating, maintaining and improving environmental safety controls across the commissioning programme
  • Producing performance reports and identifying trends, risks and solutions
  • Supporting regulatory interfaces and environmental incident management
  • Conducting inspections, risk assessments and assurance activities
  • Engaging with stakeholders to influence and advise on environmental issues

Essential experience of the Commissioning Environmental Engineer:

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement
  • Understand environmental compliance in regulated industries
  • Write and review environmental specifications and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of UK environmental permitting and waste management frameworks

Qualifications for the Commissioning Environmental Engineer:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in an environmental discipline
